I am thinking about adopting a dog from an animal shelter, and I was wondering do those shelters usually test dogs for diseases that could be transmitted to humans, or things that could cause the dog health problems?

the dogs are not ussually tested.. no.
The dogs are held for the 3 day stray hold. If the dog has a bite history it may be quarantined for 10 days before being put down.
Shelters have very little funding, and they cant afford to test each dog. There’s not many common diseases that are transmitted to humans anyways,.. rabies, lepto and ringworm.. most dogs are vaccinated for rabies and lepto anyways.
