I adopted (FREE) a Chihuahua on July 28th from some people off Craigslist. I took her to the vet for a general exam on the 29th. The vet noticed some nipple swelling and did some palpitating of her abdomen and said that she didn’t feel anything unusual besides a full bladder. She stated that i should contact the prior owners and ask if it was possible that she was pregnant, so i did and found out that there was a really good chance she was by their 2-3lb Chihuahua. They were not certain as to how far along she would was. I now know why they were giving her away for free. In the middle of last week i had my hand on her belly and felt all sorts of movement going on in there. I wanted to know how far into gestation that movement is felt from the puppies externally in small breed dogs like Chihuahuas. She has an appointment for an X-Ray on September 1st to see how many puppies there are and if she will be able to deliver vaginally. I am hoping for the best and keeping my fingerer crossed. I am glad i decided to purchase that ASPCA pet insurance. It will come in handy with the vet bill if she needs a c section. I know once all the puppies are gone she is most definitely getting spayed. But curiosity just had been getting the best of me so that’s why i have posted this question lol!
I just want to add that it don’t matter where i got the dog from because she needed a home, and would have ended up at the pound or worst yet euthanized. Plus in Minnesota where i live all the shelters post their dogs on Craigslist. I just happen to come across her and knew i could give her a great forever home with lots of love. If you are coming on here to make rude comments and not answer my question please hit the arrow to go back to your previous screen because i don’t want to hear it.
@ CGC Pit Bull Matter of fact yes i do! I work from home. I just want to let you know that I used to volunteer at a local Humane Society, and i also did foster care for them for several years till i gave birth to my son and decided it was time to quit till my some was older. So tell me this……why would i take a dog that you can feel her babies move to have an abortion??? That just seems SICK!!! and kinda gives me a good thought on how your mental process works.
@ Alesi’s Chis Go Jude! I would like you to tell me how i have failed this dog??? And as for your accusations of me not being a “TRUE” dog lover. I think that sounds more fitting of you! Maybe after she whelps her puppies you can come over with a hammer and put all of them out of their supposed pending doom of going to shelters. Since you think a late term abortion is so humane the hammer idea sound right on point to you. Just to let you know….my dog may be a bi$ #h, but i am a bigger one especially when someone tries to talk down on me. Just a little advice don’t mess with fire because you will get burned!
I just want to say thank you to all of you who have given me good advice, and links to helpful web pages. Thank you!! It is all very much appreciated!

Spay her NOW. There is NO reason for you to let her have puppies. Can you afford to take care of all these puppies? Do you have the time to take care of a litter of puppies and a nursing mom?
